Bayesian statistics

Gabriel Calvo Bayarri

Universitat de València

I develop models to understand data that evolve over time, with applications in sport, biomedicine and fisheries science. I research and teach statistics at the Universitat de València.

02 / Background

About

My PhD thesis, Bayesian hierarchical modelling for repeated measures and longitudinal data, was supervised by Carmen Armero (Universitat de València) and Luigi Spezia (Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland), and combined stays in Luxembourg and Albacete. It developed hierarchical and hidden Markov approaches for data that unfolds over time — work that now spans wheelchair basketball line-ups, NBA shot sequences, Mediterranean sardine stocks and surgical monitoring.

I currently teach statistics and biostatistics at the Universitat de València and am a member of the Valencia Bayesian Research Group (VABAR) and Team MIDAS.
